Cops in baby Pendo case released on bail, handed strict bond terms

The four police officers charged in connection with the death of Baby Pendo have been released on a cash bail of one million shillings each.

Strict bail conditions were set.
The officers have been barred from contacting or interfering with witnesses and victims, tampering with evidence, or accessing any of the crime scenes.
They are also prohibited from leaving the court's jurisdiction and must attend all court proceedings without fail.
In addition, the accused or their representatives are forbidden from sharing or disclosing any information related to the case, including personal details of witnesses and victims.
They are required to deposit their passports with the court and report to the nearest IPOA office every three months until the case is concluded.
Meanwhile, the court has extended the arrest warrant for the eleventh suspect, Mohammed Bar, instructing the National Police Service and the Inspector General to execute the warrant without delay.
The court has also ordered the redaction of names of survivors and sensitive details from the charge sheet, which is to be removed from the Case Tracking System.
All parties have been directed to engage in pretrial processes, as the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions prepares to file and serve an application for a possible transfer of the case.
Each side has been granted 14 days to file their responses.
